The Petzl TIBLOC is an ultra-lightweight emergency ascender that punches well above its 35g weight. It works as a rope ascender, a progress-capture device in a haul system, or a replacement for a friction hitch in self-rescue situations. An automatic system presses the carabiner against the rope to initiate braking in any position, and a stainless steel cam with angled teeth and evacuation slot maintains a secure grip even on muddy or icy ropes. Compact enough to live permanently on your harness or in a pack.
